pH
pH
refers to the "power of hydrogen"
and its activity level in fluids. Many
people today have an overly acidic pH
due to drinking colas, improper food
combinations, consumption of processed
foods, stress and pollution. Coral Calcium
raises the alkalinity of the extracellular
fluid that surrounds your cells. An
alkaline, versus acidic, environment
is believed to be one of the major deterrents
to tissue damage, aging and the growth
of disease organisms. When your body
consists of a more neutral to alkaline
environment, the body can then use its
amazing God given ability to heal itself
naturally.
Arthur C. Guyton, M.D.,
Probably the most recognized author
on human physiology states in his "Textbook
of Medical Physiology": "The first steps
in maintaining health is to alkalize
the body (pH or acid/alkaline balance).
This is one of the most important aspects
of Homeostasis. Changes in pH alter
virtually all body functions."
Definition: pH is how acidic or alkaline
a substance is.
0 - Acid / 7 - Neutral / 14 - Alkaline
Blood pH: 7.4 - Normal Health / 7.2
or lower - Death
"The cells of a healthy body are alkaline
while the cells of a diseased body are
below a pH of 7.0. The more acidic the
cell, the sicker we become. If the body
can not alkalize the cells they will
become acidic and thus, disease sets
in. Most cells will die in the 3.5 pH
range. Our bodies produce acid as a
bi-product of normal metabolism. Since
our bodies do not manufacture alkalinity,
we must supply the alkalinity from an
outside source to keep us from becoming
acidic and dying." Coral calcium is
this outside source.
Listed below is a conversion
chart showing the pH scale. Remember
the pH range is from 0 on the acid scale
to 14 on the alkaline side, 7 is neutral.
The pH scale measures times 10, like
a Richter Scale for earth quakes. The
numbers listed in the "Calculations"
column represent the amount of zeros
after the number 1 in the Acid/Alkaline
column.

Most drinking water has
a pH around a 7. Coral calcium
has the ability to raise the
pH to around 10.5. From 10,000,000
to about 100,000,000,000 shows
that coral calcium makes the
water 10,000 times more alkaline.
The numbers in this chart
are only achieved using marine
coral calcium sachets with
no vitamins or other ingredients
added. Other generic coral
calcium products or products
with extra vitamins and minerals
etc. added will not produce
the same results. |
Why is it that our bodies operate so well
in an alkaline environment? One explanation
could be due to enzymes. Most people
think that enzymes are just for digesting
foods. The enzymes that digest foods
are designed to thrive in an acidic
environment, but enzymes have a much
larger role in the body then just digestion.
Life itself is regulated by catalysis.
The catalysis in your body are enzymes.
Most enzymes have an pH optimum that
usually ranges from 6 to 8. Outside
this pH range the enzymes quickly become
denatured and ineffective. This causes
many chemical reactions to no longer
take place.
Carbonic anhydrase
is one of the many enzymes that has
a pH optimum of around 7.2. This is
a very important enzyme. One carbonic
anhydrase enzyme can catalyze the reaction
of carbonic acid (HCO3) into carbon
dioxide (CO2) 36 million times. The
blood must maintain an alkaline pH of
7.35 to 7.45 or it will not be able
to retain oxygen. Imagine what would
happen if this enzyme was no longer
able to catalyze this reaction. The
blood would become extremely acid and
unable to carry oxygen to the cells
of your body ultimately leading to death.
To prevent this from happening your
body will pull calcium from the bones
to alkalize the body leading to further
disease. We believe that one of the
leading causes of osteoporosis today
is all of the sodas and colas we drink.
Sodas and colas contain large amounts
of carbonic acid hence the term carbonated
beverage. This carbonic acid causes
the body to deplete the bones of calcium
in order to remain alkaline. It takes
32 glasses of alkaline water to neutralize
the effects of one carbonated beverage
equal in proportion to one of the glasses
of water.
